Abstract
This article aims to investigate researches that focus on Historical-Critical Pedagogy and Historical-Cultural Psychology in the continuing education in Mathematics of teachers in the early years of Elementary School (multipurpose). The research has a qualitative character and was carried out through a bibliographical survey. The intention was to investigate the use of such theories in research, more specifically, in theses and dissertations, and to problematize the weaknesses and/or the analysis potential of critical theories as a theoretical support to think about education and teacher training. For data analysis, three categories established a priori involving the investigation theme were considered. As a result, we found that, in the analyzed context, there are few studies focused on the interweaving of these theories. Therefore, we point to the need for training that gives educators the opportunity to be heard, to show their anguish, but also that provides philosophical, theoretical and methodological challenges, based on both theories, PHC and Historical-Cultural Psychology; considered as a critical foundation in teacher training, as they point to new means and instruments to understand and analyze the processes by which autonomous educational work has been curtailed.
